MasterSeal® AWB:
Air and Water Resistive Barriers
Creating high performance air and water-resistive barrier systems.
One Air Barrier Material for All Wall Systems

Efficient Use of Premium Materials
MasterSeal® AWB formulations employ high-quality elastomeric polymers that provide a balance of strength, resilience, abrasion-resistance, water-resistance and controlled water vapor permeability.
MasterSeal® AWB delivers high performance at low film thicknesses. Low wet-film thickness results in fast drying times, allowing contractors to complete their work quickly, and minimizing potential damage to the membrane before it has fully cured.

Extensive Testing to Validate Performance

Code requirements for fluid-applied air/water-resistive barriers used on framed construction are clearly defined. Fire, moisture, and air barrier performance are interpreted under the International Code Council Evaluation Services(ICC-ES). MasterSeal® AWB components are covered by ICC-ES Reports 3209 and 3310 respectively, which confirm compliance with ICC-ES AC212 and ICC-ES AC148. MasterSeal® AWB systems are supported by NFPA 285 testing and engineering analyses cover a wide range of wall assemblies. In addition to the compliance with ICC Acceptance Criteria, MasterSeal® AWB system components are recognized as acceptable air barrier materials by the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA).
MasterSeal AWB Products
MasterSeal AWB 660 (High Permeability) is a one component fluid-applied vapor permeable air/ water-resistive barrier based on Silica Fortified Rubber chemistry.
This resilient water-resistant coating may be roller-, brush-, trowel-, or spray-applied directly to approved wall substrates. It provides excellent secondary moisture protection to most wall claddings. MasterSeal AWB 660 complies with the air barrier impermeability requirements of the Massachusetts Energy Code.
MasterSeal AWB 665 is a one component fluid-applied vapor permeable air/ water-resistive barrier based on Silica Fortified Rubber chemistry. This resilient water-resistant coating may be roller-, brush-, spray-applied or jet rolled directly to approved wall substrates. It provides excellent secondary moisture protection to most wall claddings. MasterSeal AWB 665 complies with the air barrier impermeability requirements of the Massachusetts Energy Code. Limitation: MasterSeal AWB 665 should not be used for below grade applications or on surfaces subject to water immersion.
MasterSeal AWB 660 I is a one component fluid-applied air/ water-resistive barrier that can also function as a Class I vapor retarder. Based on Silica Fortified RubberTM chemistry, this water-resistant, resilient membrane may be spray-, roller-, or brush-applied directly to approved above grade wall substrates. It provides excellent secondary moisture protection behind most wall claddings including brick, siding, metal panels, EIFS and stucco.
MasterSeal AWB 900 is designed for use as a membrane for flashing rough openings, and as a detailing compound for preparing sheathing joints for application of an air/water-resistive barrier membrane.
Acceptable substrates include ASTM C1177 sheathing, plywood, pressure treated wood, OSB, steel and aluminum.
A one-component, water-based block filler based on Silica Fortified RubberTM chemistry. It has been specifically designed for use with BASF MasterSeal AWB air/water-resistive barrier products.
MasterSeal AWB 950 P is a single component, water-based primer specially formulated for use with MasterSeal AWB 970 FIB.
MasterSeal AWB 970 FIB is a patented, 30-mil thick, self-adhering, self-sealing, composite membrane of polyester fabric and rubberized asphalt. MasterSeal AWB 970 FIB is supplied in rolls, on release paper, for easy application.
For above grade use with MasterSeal AWB 660, MasterSeal AWB 665, or MasterSeal AWB 660 I air/water-resistive barriers. 4", 6" or 9" Sheathing Fabric reinforces MasterSeal AWB 660, MasterSeal AWB 665, or MasterSeal AWB 660 I over acceptable rough openings, sheathing joints and at transitions.
MasterSeal AWB 975 FIB is a premanufactured corner reinforcement designed for use with BASF Corporation Construction Systems fluid-applied air and water-resistive barrier systems.
